BREAKING STEREOTYPES 2008 - DAY 4

All kinds of projects have their favourite days which are whole day trips or activities connected with visiting new places and towns. On our journeys we could visit Side, Manavgat or Myra in Turkey, Toledo in Spain or Naples and Pompei in Italy and the same it was also during our camp. We prepared two whole day activities in the mountains and Saturday was the day of the first one. Our programme began in Trojanovice where we got on a cable car that took us up to Pustevny, a place famous for its folk culture. For the Latvians it might have been the highest mountain they got to :-) but I think that for the others it was also something unusual and new. The day was called "Learn about our culture and traditions" and the first task to do was prepared just in Pustevny. The mixed international groups were supposed to draw a picture of a folk building in Pustevny as they can imagine it after 50 years. Some groups did the work honestly, some others were not fond of such drawing very much. Maybe a lack of fantasy? :-) After a short break for buying souvenirs and snacks we walked on to the statue of Radegast and then to the Chapel of Cyril and Metodej. Although the programme was not very tiring, some of us hurt themselves either because of sun or because of terrain. The next stop on our way was an old wooden village of Roznov pod Radhostem. We were lucky as we could also see a performance of a folk dance group. The activities of the day were then carried on during the last days at the camp. Well, the day focused on Czech folk culture and traditions we finished with some shopping in Ostrava and then we returned back to the camp tired, hurt and sunburnt. The next whole day trip is going to come on Tuesday.
